The Water Closet

Well this place is usually not very funny, and I'm not going to explain how to use the shitter as you (hopefully) already knows how to do that... But I have a splendid idea of what you can do while you sit there...

Build your own and personal medival chainmail!

ArtLine

What you need:

* Lots of Steelwire (I my self buys rolls of 10-20m of this stuff)
* Two pairs of tongs (Not to big)
* A pair of gloves (If you care for your hands)
* A metal bar (Approximately 50cm long and 7-8 mm diameter)
* A pair of cutting nippers (Better ask your father... or wife)
* Lots of time and patience (I really mean it...)

How to make the rings:

You should buy rolls of steelwire with an diameter of approximately 1.5 mm, the whole chainmail will require a number of theese. Next you should get hold of a metal bar with a diameter of 7-8 mm and length of 50 cm. To be able to handle it you should weld a transvers bar at one end (as on the picture).
Metal bar

Next fasten the wire at the end with the handle and begin to roll it around the bar as closely as possible until the whole bar is used. If you are of appropriate age you could use a driller to this purpose, but it requires some training.

At last loosen the rolled wire carefully and use the cutting nippers to cut the roll to small rings. Repeat this whenever you need more

How to create you chainmail:

You take a small ring at a time and use the pairs of tongs to carefully bend it open and close it again after it has been put together with the other rings.

In the beginning you just connect one ring at the end of the chain of rings until it is as long as your are over you shoulders.
Chain of rings

When it has the desired length you begin to work you way down by connecting every other ring with a new ring and continuing until you reach the end of the chain. This you repeat a lot of times and when it is big enough you begin to prepare the whole for your head.
Chains of rings

There are a two ways of doing the hole. Either you only add rings on the end of the chains and leave the middle part free or you make the hole by simply removing the rings from the middle when it is of appropriate size. The reason for doing the shoulder part first and the headhole is that when you get bored you simply put it over your shoulders to feel the weight and most often you feel encouraged to continue a couple of more rows.

Body part When the hole for the head is done you continue to add rows of rings alternately on both the frontpart and on the backpart thus you will know when you have the full desired length of you mail. It will be easier for measuring if you have a couple of rings extra on the rows by the shoulder part and reduce it again when you have passed the armpit.
Then you fold it over and finally you 'sew' the shirt together from the armpit and down to the end to complete the bodypart. Shirt
Arm The arms are made separately the same way but when the desired length is reached you begin to use one ring less on each side on each row. As touch you can add small triangulars at the bottom. When one is ready you should make another one...
In the end you wrap the arms around and 'sew' it together with rings and fasten it to the bodypart with the same method. If the arms hole should be to small or large for the body part, you simply correct the bodypart with either removing rings of 'sewing' rings. Wow!

By now you probably have filled the shitter... flush!
